‘Okkadu’ fame Gunasekar announced his Shakuntalam on Friday evening. Even though he is all set to make a mega budget epic film Hiranyakashyapa with Rana, production house has postponed it owing to the COVID uncertainty. Hence, Gunasekar has decided to start Shakuntalam, a glorious love tale from the Adi Parva of Mahabharata. Filmnagar is abuzz that Anushka is playing the eponymous role in it. Though Pooja Hegde was thought as the first choice, Gunasekar reportedly decided Anushka will suit the role better.
Anushka has already worked with Gunasekar in Rudhramadevi which won accolades for her performance. Sweety’s stardom touched skies with her powerful performance in Devasena’s character in Baahubali series. If this news turns out to be true, then Anushka’s presence would be an added advantage for Shakuntalam as Gunasekar is making it on a Pan-Indian scale. Industry circles are thinking that Rana would be apt for the character of Dushyant alongside Anushka. Let’s see whether this buzz transforms into truth or not.
