The Nalgonda-Khammam & Warangal and Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy & Mahbubnagar graduate constituencies are going for polls in March next year. Currently, TRS MLC Palla Rajeswara Reddy represents the Nalgonda-Khammam and Warangal while BJP senior leader N Ramchander Rao represents the Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy & Mahbubnagar constituency.
As the current tenure of both the leaders is coming to an end in March next year, Prof Kodanda Ram has decided to contest from the Nalgonda-Khammam and Warangal graduate constituency. The former OU professor seems to do everything possible to win the seat represented by the ruling TRS. Accordingly, he is reportedly holding talks with other aspirants and parties to garner their support. The TJS president is learnt to have roped in the Congress to extend its support to him.
Both the Congress and TJS have reached an understanding on the issue. The TJS will extend its support to the Congress candidate in Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy & Mahbubnagar, in return, the Congress will support Prof Kodanda Ram in Nalgonda-Khammam & Warangal constituency.
The professor who was scoffed at by the TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao has reportedly sought the support of other political parties to better his winning chances. It is learnt that the TJS chief has already completed touring the Khammam, Nalgonda and Warangal districts to woo the graduate voters and held separate meetings with students and teachers’ associations to garner their support.
Party sources say that the professor is confident of winning this time since the graduate constituencies of Khammam and Nalgonda are dominated by the left parties. Similarly, Congress and TDP also have considerable support among the voters. The TJS president is hoping that the anti-incumbency factor against the sitting TRS candidate will turn the winning chances in his favour. Now he is trying to get support from CPI, TDP and CPM for their support.
Further, Kodanda Ram expressed confidence that he will be backed by students and educated people who played a key role in the separate Telangana movement in Warangal. All these equations are reportedly being worked out for the TJS and Congress to come to an understanding and support each other to defeat TRS – their common political opponent.
