With the last date for enrolment of graduate voters nearing, all parties have expedited the process of enrolling names in the electoral rolls. The parties are campaigning aggressively and appealing all graduates to register. Response is also phenomenal in the constituencies and the graduates are flocking online to register as voters. Lakhs of graduates are excited to exercise their franchise in this election.
Though the campaign and response are good, applicants are facing trouble to get a gazetted officer’s sign which is mandatorily required to register as a voter in the Graduate election. Voters are running from pillar to post to get their documents signed by a gazetted officer and have even expressed their displeasure as they are unable to get any response from the designated officers.
City residents and people who are having links with officials are not facing issues, but people in rural areas are. All parties have already received complaints from the youth and looking at ways to solve the issue.
The ruling TRS party is also facing the same problem, as thousands of activists are reportedly calling party leaders. Sadly, even the party functionaries are unable to tell voters where to get a gazetted officer’s signature.
However, Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav has taken a step forward in this regard. The minister announced that he would ask his personal secretaries to sign for the enrolment if anyone needs the signature. He said there was no need for the party leaders to bother about signatures. The voters in both the constituencies said that if the ministers and MPs come forward and provide signatures on a similar basis, they would be able to enrol names without any hassle.
