Even though our Tollywood stars stay away from experiments, they all have an obsession deep inside to portray roles that make them live even after they die. Playing a ’Naxalite’ is one such obsession and there are many instances of stars playing this role in their films. Films like ‘Sindhooram’, ‘Osey Ramulamma’ and ‘Adavilo Anna’ became successful at the box office even though stars have taken the ‘forest’ route in them. ‘People’s Star’ Narayana Murthy is famous for ‘Naxalite’ roles and showcasing revolution in his movies such as ‘Ardharatri Swantantram’, ‘Erra Sainyam’, ‘Cheemaladandu’ and ‘Adavi Diviteelu’. Even Powerstar Pawan Kalyan appeared as a ‘Naxalite’ in ‘Jalsa’. No one can forget ‘People’s Encounter’ from ‘Ushakiran Movies’.
Now young guns Rana and Ram Charan are donning the ‘Naxalite’ role in their upcoming films. Director Venu Udugula is making ‘Virata Parvam’ with Rana which is based on the incidents that happened in 1992 in Telangana. Rana, Priyamani, Sai Pallavi and ‘National Award’ winner Nandita Das are acting as naxalites in it.
We all know that Ram Charan is playing an extended cameo in his dad’s ‘Acharya’. He is playing a powerful role of a naxalite which appears on the screen for 30 minutes. His interval bang scenes are said to be one of the major highlights of the movie. ‘Acharya’ is going to release in the coming summer. Let’s see whether Rana and Ram Charan excel in their ‘Naxalite’ roles or not.
