Reducing the age for retirement is the hottest topic in the employees’ circle. AP Government had earlier clarified that there is no such thing and even asked the employees to not believe the fake news being peddled on social media. All the clarifications do not suffice to allay the fears in employees. They wish for CM YS Jagan to clarify on the issue so they can be assured of no such action by the Government.
It seems that the YS Jagan led government has no plans to reduce the retirement age to 57, then what is the genesis for this news? Employees are peeved on Jagan for not fulfilling the election’s promises. He had promised to abolish CPS within a week of forming the government, but the promise remains unfulfilled, and considering the dismal financial condition of the state, the promise might never be fulfilled. YS Jagan backtracking on his CPS promise has created doubts among employees if he will backtrack on the retirement age issue in the future also.
YS Jagan and his cabinet colleagues are not responding on this issue. Sources say that they have deliberately leaked the news to know the pulse of employees before implementing the decision. If Government reduces the retirement age from 60 to 57, it will save Rs.3000 crores on an annual basis. With it, YSCRP Government can pay salaries to one lakh village volunteers. As per survey, there are 30,000 employees who have crossed the age of 57 now. The employees are expecting Jagan to give clarity and put an end to all speculations.
