Telangana CM KCR visited Medigadda, the first point of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation project on Tuesday. Talking to the officials, the Chief Minister asked them to provide water in the Rabi season. Following special rituals, KCR took up an aerial view of Kannepally barrage and Medigadda Lakshmi barrage. He also discussed on the inflow and outflows of barrages which have a width of 1.6 km and 85 gates. The CM directed the officials to take steps to provide water during Rabi. He performed pooja at the Pranahita and Godavari convergence points. The officials informed the Chief Minister KCR saying that there is 16 TMC water at 99 feet at Medigadda through reverse pumping. The lifts started after about five months. This barrage is designed to provide water to 37 lakh acres by lifting 2 TMCs of water on a daily basis.
The CM said that the project was completed within time. He directed the officials to speed up the works of other projects. He also wanted the officials to have operation rules for pumping water continuously. In the coming months, there will be review every month and soon directions would be given on this.
As part of the project, water would be provided to 18.25 lakh acres in 13 districts. The water would be provided to villages, Hyderabad city, industries and hence the entire project was reviewed. Water would also be provided during the summer to areas falling under the old ayacut of Sriramsagar, Nizam Sagar, Mid Manair, Lower Manair and Upper Manair. The CM reviewed the new project proposals of Chennur in Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial constituencies.
Ministers Koppula Eshwar, Gangula Kamalakar, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Peddapally ZP Chairman Putta Madhukar, Ramagundam MLA K Chander and others welcomed CM KCR who came in a chopper. The CM’s tour after one year attained significance as the opposition parties have been alleging corruption in the irrigation projects.
