Former CS Nilam Sawhney took over as SEC. She took charge at the State Election Commission office in Vijayawada and signed the file. Her tenure will be for five years. She thanked the governor for handing over her responsibilities with confidence. She said local bodies would work hard to conduct elections freely and transparently. Before taking office, she was warmly welcomed by State Election Commission Secretary Kannababu, office bearers and police personnel.
Exercise on MPTC and ZPTC elections
The SEC has launched an exercise to hold the stalled MPTC and ZPTC elections immediately. As part of the process, the government will meet CS Adityanath Das and DGP Gautam Sawang today. Neelam Sahni seems to want the entire election process to be completed by April 17. Elections are likely to be held on the 8th of this month and the results will be announced on the 10th. The election process will start from where it left off. It is already known that the nomination process for MPTC and ZPTC has been completed.
