The AP High Court in the strongest possible terms condemned the disparaging remarks made by AP Assembly Speaker Thammineni Seetharam. It doesn’t behold a person sitting in a constitutional post to speak in such a manner, the High Court noted, adding it isn’t the right way to express dissent. The Speaker was told to appeal in the Supreme Court if he found fault with the High Court judgements.
AP political turmoil seen nowhere in India…
The AP High Court has begun hearing cases pertaining to the negative social media posts made against the High Court Judges by YSRCP leaders on social media. The remarks made by Speaker Thammineni Seetharam, AP Deputy CM K Narayana Swamy, MPs – V Vijayasai Reddy, Nandigam Suresh and former MLA Amanchi Krishna Mohan are obstruction to democracy, the court said, adding that it will be compelled to use its powers under the constitution. However, the court said that it would look into the possibility of larger conspiracy and the motive behind lowering the dignity of the judiciary.
Why no cases have been files yet?
The court made it clear that it would not stay a mute spectator if attempts were made to destroy the reputation of the judiciary and questioned as to why no cases have been filed against the political leaders. The AP High Court even expressed its displeasure over the failure to register cases against the leaders despite the HC Registrar filing a complaint.
