Biopic trend seems not to be subsiding anytime soon. Mahanati dragged Tollywood into this genre and NTR series substantiated it. Apart from a couple of silly outings of maverick director RGV, there is another biopic which is on the cards lately. It is based on yesteryear’s handsome hero Sobhan Babu.
Sobhan Babu debuted into TFI with Daiva Balam in 1959. He captured the attention of audiences with his second film Bhakta Sabari and rose to stardom with Veerabhimanyu in 1965. Babu went on to star in blockbusters like Soggadu, Pandanti Kapuram, Karthika Deepam, Illalu Priyuralu, Kongumudi, Ummadi Mogudu and Balipeetham in the later years. Apart from family movies, he also appeared in romantic and action films. He reached the top brass along with NTR, ANR and Krishna.
Sobhan Babu is known for his grounded nature which made him do multi-starrers with his co-stars. Filmnagar circles are abuzz about his biopic now and Rana Daggubati is reportedly playing his role. The young actor will join this biopic after completing his current projects according to the cine fraternity. More details about the director, production house and cast are yet to be revealed.
