TDP is going to be infused with new leadership from bottom to the top. Party has become literally paralysed after the rout in 2019 elections. The defeat demoralized the party to such an extent that it has no in-charges in many districts. With no leaders to mobilize people, the cadre too has become inactive. In this grim scenario, party national president N Chandrababu Naidu has taken up an exercise to inject new young blood into the party leadership to rejuvenate the party. After a three-month exercise, Naidu has reportedly prepared a list of young leaders to be given responsibilities. He has drawn the list after eliciting opinions of every active party member across the state through IVRS and analyzing the data collected thus.
Atchanna to lead state party?
Former minister K Atchannaidu’s name is making rounds for the post of state party president. He remained committed to the party despite being incarcerated by the YSRCP government in the name of ESI scam. Naidu thinks that if Atchanna is given the reins of state party, he will take the party forward aggressively in north Andhra. Moreover, being a BC, his leadership cements the image of TDP as the party of BCs.
Currently, K Kala Venkata Rao is the party state chief. He has not been active because of his soft nature as well as age. Naidu feels that Atchanna will be the suitable candidate to lead the party in the state at this critical juncture.
Telugu Yuvata for Paritala Sriram?
Paritala Sriram was proposed for Telugu Yuvata president post in 2019 itself. But it had to be given to Devineni Avinash who joined the party from Congress at that time. Now Sriram’s name is being considered for the post. It is believed that Sriram can electrify the youth wing in all districts.
The Paritala family has a huge following in coastal Andhra apart from Rayalaseema. Naidu is of the view that Paritala Sriram’s appointment will activate the party youth wing in a big way, creating momentum for the growth of the party. According to the party’s thinking, only Sriram has a statewide appeal and any other leader would mostly confine himself to his district.
Committees by Dasara
TDP leadership has completed the process of selecting candidates for appointment to committees from village level to state level. The announcement is postponed in view of Covid-19. The new committees are likely to be announced by Dasara.
Because of corona, the party cadre has become inactive for the last 6 months. In several districts, leaders are not coming out of their cocoons to lead the party workers who are raring to wage a fight against government policies. Naidu feels this situation cannot continue like this for long. Hence, he is eager to deploy the youth brigade as soon as possible.
