B Raja Kumari IPS, the Superintendent of Police, Vizianagram, speaking to media on Saturday has made it clear that an investigation is underway to nab the culprits who vandalized the idol of Lord Ram and that the issue shouldn’t be politicized unnecessarily. Addressing a presser at the district police headquarters, Raja Kumari said that 20 suspects have already been taken into custody in connection with the Ramatheertham incident and that an additional 12 persons are being interrogated. She even requested political leaders to cooperate with the police and that making inflammatory speeches will not be tolerated at any cost.
The Vizianagram SP stated that incidents like these must not be used for political mileage. It is known that a 400-yr old idol of Lord Ram was beheaded by unknown miscreants at the famed shrine. The top police official had called for a press meet to issue a prior warning in the wake of YSRCP RS MP V Vijayasai Reddy and TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu visiting Ramatheertham temple. Vizianagaram DSP Anil was also present in the meeting.
