It is known that garbage was dumped in the premises of four banks in Krishna district by sanitation workers as loans were not being granted under Jagananna Cheyutha and other welfare schemes. With the news reaching Centre, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman admonished AP Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath over the issue. This led the AP government to initiate an investigation into the incident and hold those persons responsible for the shameful act. As a result, the AP government suspended Dr N Prakash Rao, the Commissioner of Vuyyuru Nagar Panchayat. It has been alleged that the Commissioner himself had personally supervised the proceedings.
Guntur Municipal Regional Director G Srinivasa Rao had ordered an investigation into the incident and had submitted a report on the same to the state government. Therefore, the Commissioner of Vuyyuru Nagar Panchayat was held responsible for the incident. Dr N Prakash Rao was held for allowing garbage to be dumped before banks rather than informing higher authorities concerned over non-disbursal of loans.
Made a scapegoat
However, contrary to the allegations that the Commissioner himself had supervised the dumping of garbage; Dr N Prakash Rao claimed innocence before media. He added that he had nothing to do with the whole issue and that he had not ordered the sanitation workers to dump garbage before banks. The official lamented that he was made a scapegoat in the incident.
