Minister Botsa Satyanarayana has given indications that the government is ready to close the MR junior college, which is one of the first prestigious colleges in South India. Theleonews.com has been reporting since the early days that MR Junior College is about to close.
College management unable to manage
The MANSAS Management in its letter to the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh stated that they are unable to run the MR aided college. Responding to this, Minister Botsa Satyanarayana said that the students of the junior college would be provided seats in other Government Junior Colleges.
The minister added that they were increasing the capacity of the local government junior colleges. On Monday he inspected the Government Junior College in Vizianagaram along with District Collector Dr Hari Jawaharlal. He said that all the students studying in the Maharajah Unaided Junior College would not face any difficulties and alternative arrangements were being made for continuing their education.
Review with officials
Minister Botsa held a review meeting with the Principal of the College, Intermediate Regional Officer Manjula Veena and others on the existing accommodation facilities, the number of students, faculty, teaching staff etc. in the Government Junior College. He said that there are chances of another 200 students getting into the college.
The college principal and the regional audit officer have been directed to make estimates within two days on the number of faculty members and the number of classrooms required for enrolling additional students and additional sections to be set up. The Intermediate Board Commissioner Ramakrishna was asked to sanction additional faculty, staff and add a few courses.
The locals are left confused over MANSAS not considering the requests of the students to hand over the college to the government if they cannot run and the government also getting away by stating that it is a family matter.
