In the movie world, the fate of stars and directors changes every Friday. ‘Hit’ is the only factor that makes or breaks careers regardless of talent. A bunch of directors in Tollywood who were praised for their successes slowly got faded away as failures crippled them. But as they know that one ‘hit’ will change their life once again, they are constantly working to convince stars with new scripts.
VV Vinayak
VV Vinayak amassed a lot of craze with his action packed movies. His movies with outlandish hero introduction scenes, comic scenes and over-the-top fights used to entice masses. But those days were over for him. His routine screenplay and slapstick comedy failed to attract audience and people started avoiding his movies lately. Except Megastar’s ‘Khaidi No.150,’ there are no hits in his career in this decade. His last film ‘Intelligent’ was a super flop. Despite all this, he was given the bumper offer to direct Chiranjeevi in the Telugu remake of Malayalam super hit Lucifer. Now Vinayak is working hard on tweaking the script to suit to Telugu nativity.
Srikanth Addala
Srikanth Addala amassed success with sensible love and family films such as ‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’ and ‘Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’. His prowess in amalgamating family values with human emotions got him good success. His later films like ‘Mukunda’ and ‘Brahmotsavam’ flopped miserably at box office. ‘Brahmotsavam’ even caused a huge dent to his reputation as a director. This made him go incognito until he was called by ‘Suresh Productions’ to direct ‘Naarappa’ with Venkatesh. It is the remake of Tamil film ‘Asuran’ and Srikanth Addala is eager to repeat his magic with it on the silver screen.
‘Bommarillu’ Bhaskar
Bhaskar created a sort of ‘wonder’ with his debut film ‘Bommarillu’. He failed to continue his success streak for his later movies. Even though he scored ‘pass’ marks for ‘Parugu’, ‘Orange’ and ‘Ongole Gitta’ branded him as a flop director. He is currently directing Akhil’s fourth film ‘Most Eligible Bachelor’ and has pinned lot of hopes on it.
Meher Ramesh
Meher Ramesh’s career is a synonym for failure. Perhaps no other director in India would possess such a disastrous record, thanks to his unendurable films. His four films ‘Billa’, ‘Sakthi’, ‘Kranthi’ and ‘Shadow’ are examples of how films should not be made! But luck landed him in the coterie of none other than Megastar Chiranjeevi. Chiru has given his nod to his script which is the remake of Tamil film ‘Vedhalam’. Megastar is said to be impressed with Meher Ramesh’s narration and the way he tweaked the script to suit to the tastes of Telugu audiences. Chiranjeevi has reportedly warned Meher Ramesh to not cross the budget.
Let’s wish all these directors the best and hope they will regain lost glory.
