The TDP chief is preparing a list of 25 presidents for as many Parliamentary constituency units of the party. The move comes in the wake of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s decision to carve out new districts on the basis of Parliamentary constituencies. So, it looks like Chandrababu is embracing Jagan’s idea well in advance.
TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu is making serious efforts to strengthen the party. Efforts to entrust party responsibilities to active leaders at Parliamentary constituency level are going on. Naidu has already held discussions with various people on this. He spoke to leaders of 12 Lok Sabha constituencies through Zoom so far.He has elicited the opinions of local leaders and activists through IVRS. It is learnt that Naidu is making a list of presidents based on these opinions. K Atchannaidu’s name as state party president has been confirmed. It is likely to be formally announced on September 27.
Currently, every district unit has a president. Now Naidu is mulling to appoint president to each Parliamentary constituency. Sources say he has already prepared a list of these leaders and will announce it on September 27 along with the name of the state party president.
Welcoming Jagan’s proposal
The YSRCP government is planning to make each Parliamentary constituency a district. This will lead to formation of 25 districts in the state in the coming days. Keeping this in mind, the TDP chief appears to have decided to make each Parliamentary constituency as a unit and appoint presidents accordingly. Political circles see this as Naidu extending his support to Jagan’s proposal to form new districts on the basis of Parliamentary seats.
Naidu is said to be taking care of social equations into consideration while appointing presidents. Three names have been finalized for the three Parliamentary seats in Guntur districts. Giving equal importance to all sections, Naidu has decided to appoint one SC, one BC and an OC to these units. The exercise of choosing presidents to all the 25 units in the state is going on.
Priority to youth
The party chief is said to be planning to deploy young leaders in place of seniors, in order to face the YSRCP. As Atchannaidu’s name has already been confirmed for state unit chief, district unit presidents too will be in the age group of 45-55 years. A search is on for leaders who are active and energetic and able to take on the ruling party on all fronts. This process will be completed in a couple of days and names will be announced on September 27.
Importance to BC, SC & ST leaders
Importance will be given to BC, SC&ST leaders in the new set up. Apart from giving appropriate positions to these sections, the party leadership will ensure that they will not be pushed around by anyone. They will be given full freedom in their sphere in the party. Sources say Atchannaidu has agreed to take the reins of the state party only on these conditions.
