Elections in Bihar and by-elections to various assembly and parliamentary constituencies across states has led to the Centre tweaking the Covid19 guidelines issued earlier in September under unlock 5.0. The Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday, allowed political rallies and gatherings in the wake of upcoming polls. Relaxing norms, the Centre said that meetings could be held inside auditoriums and halls up to 50% capacity and not to exceed the maximum capacity of two hundred persons in open spaces. Even gatherings held in open grounds should adhere to the above specified norms. Also, guidelines for Covid19 has to be strictly enforced, such as wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, thermal scanning, use of sanitizers or hand wash.
The Election Commission has announced by-elections to one Lok Sabha and fifty-six assembly constituencies. The new guidelines are to come into effect from October 15th and many old guidelines are being updated in the wake of the upcoming elections to be held across various states.
