An investigative web docu-series based on infamous businessmen Vijay Mallya, Subrata Roy and Nirav Modi has released via OTT platform on Netflix, following a lower court in Bihar lifting the stay order.
The docu-series was initially slated to be released on September 2nd, but got involved in a legal tussle after Subrata Roy, B Ramalinga Raju and Mehul Choksi moved the court seeking a stay. A three-episode series featuring Kingfisher Airlines founder Vijay Mallya, fugitive diamond merchant Nirav Modi and Sahara chief Subrata Roy was released on the web platform on October 2nd.
However, the fourth episode in the web series based on former CEO of Satyam Computers B Ramalinga Raju will not be streamed as the Hyderabad civil court restrained Netflix from doing so. Earlier, on August 28th the Patna civil court ordered Netflix not to stream the series using Roy’s name.
Though, the US based OTT giant moved the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the order, it was unsuccessful as the latter rejected the plea on September 2nd. Even the Patna High Court had dismissed Netflix’s plea challenging the injunction order. Earlier, a plea by Mehul Choksi demanding a stay on the release and pre-screening of the docu-series filed in Delhi Court was rejected.
