Reports from New Delhi indicate that a couple of MPs from the YSRCP are expected to be inducted into the Central Cabinet, if Jagan’s YSRC joins hands with the NDA. Earlier during his Delhi tour, the AP CM had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and had preliminary discussions regarding the major political development.
The AP CM who’ll be leaving for the National Capital, on Monday, is scheduled to meet PM Modi on Tuesday morning. However, the appointment of YS Jagan with PM Modi might change due to the latter’s busy schedule.
Two Cabinet, One Independent Minister…
YSRCP MPs are reported to have been offered three Union ministerial posts, of which two are Union Cabinet rank posts and one MoS Independent Charge. Speculation is rife that CM YS Jagan has referred the names of his close associate and Rajya Sabha MP V Vijayasai Reddy and PV Midhun Reddy who acts as Panel Speaker of Lok Sabha for the YSR Congress Party.
While, Vallabhaneni Balasouri’s name is doing the rounds for the post of independent minister, it is likely that someone from the SC and ST communities might get an opportunity.
For support in Rajya Sabha…
The recent agriculture bills brought by the BJP government have sparked a furor in the Parliament forcing NDA ally Shiromani Akali Dal’s Harsimrat Kaur Badal to resign from the Narendra Modi cabinet. Also, the BJP needs the help of regional parties as it has insufficient numbers in the Rajya Sabha. Hence, experts opine that BJP’s decision to give ministerial posts to YSRCP members is a move to garner their support and lock them into decision making.
Key Cabinet berths…
Speculation are rife as to what ministries will be allotted to the YSRCP MPs as there are no vacancies in key Portfolios. It remains to be seen if PM Modi will go for a reshuffle of the Union Council of Ministers to accommodate the new entrants.
