Santoshi, wife of Colonel Santosh Babu who was martyred in the recent clashes on the Indo-China border, has submitted her joining report as Deputy Collector to the Chief Secretary, Somesh Kumar, at BRKR Bhavan here on Saturday.
As per the decision of the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Santoshi, was appointed as Deputy Collector in the Revenue Department.
CM KCR also gifted a 711- square yard house site in Hyderabad near KBR park, valued at Rs 10 crore, to the late Colnel’s wife and announced Rs 5 crore ex-gratia.
Hyderabad collector Shweta Mohanty handed over documents of the plot to Santoshi. Later, KCR instructed officials to post Santoshi in Hyderabad or its surrounding areas and directed his secretary Smita Sabharwal to help her till she settles down in her job.
She had initially opted for commercial tax officer post but later changed her mind and sought deputy collector job in Group-I cadre, which was accepted by the state government.
On the night of June 15, Col Babu, the commanding officer (CO) of the 16 Bihar regiment of the Indian Army was asked to check whether the Chinese troops pulled out of patrolling point 14 in Galwan, when the attack took place. At least 20 Indian soldiers died in the clashes.
On June 22, the chief minister visited the bereaved family in Suryapet town and pledged the government’s full support to the family.
During his visit, KCR had handed over a cheque for Rs 5 crore announced as ex-gratia by him. He had also personally handed over a letter appointing Santoshi as a Group I service officer in the state government and documents allotting a house site of 711 sq yards at Banjara Hills.
