Young actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide investigation has unearthed Bollywood’s link with drugs. Officials from Narcotics Control Bureau questioned his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborthy for three days in connection with drugs-related allegations and have found her Whatsapp conversations with drug dealers. Rhea has been arrested in Mumbai today by the Narcotics Control Bureau. Her brother Shovik Chakraborthy and Sushant’s manager Samuel Miranda were already arrested by the officials.
Meanwhile, news of Kannada film industry’s links with drug dealers has made the entire nation turn south on Bengaluru now. Bengaluru’s Central Crime Branch Police have arrested film maker and journalist Indrajith Lankesh in this regard. Sources say that Lankesh revealed the names of various actors and actresses who are using drugs. Following his statement, police has arrested manager Ravi. Using information given by him, police searched the house of actress Ragini Dwivedi and found incriminating evidence that could shake up the Sandalwood film fraternity. Even though Ragini is not cooperating in the investigation, police are trying to extract information from her as they think she is the trump card for the investigation.
Police has also arrested a real estate agent-turned-drug peddler Rahul Shetty who is said to be a close friend of actress Sanjjanaa Galrani. Based on information provided by him, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru organized a search operation at Sanjjanaa’s residence as part of the ongoing high profile drug bust case.
Rahul also revealed that they went to various parties and casinos in foreign countries. In this regard, CCB Police served notices to Sanjjanaa and arrested her after searching her residence. Police said they have arrested 13 members in regard to this case and there are a lot of other names yet to come out. Sanjjanaa and Rahul supposedly attended private parties at various casinos in other countries. “Rahul Shetty has confessed to organising parties and also procuring drugs for these parties. We are searching her house currently. Another party planner from Mangaluru, Pruthvi Shetty was questioned and based on information search warrant was procured,” the News Minute reported from a source in CCB.
We all know what happened in the drugs issue that came up in Tollywood a couple of years. Lot of celebrities even attended the enquiry conducted by the team lead by Akun Sabarwal, but the case gradually disappeared from the limelight. Let’s see what happens in the case of Sandalwood.
