At a press meet held today, Former Minister Devineni Uma questioned the YS Jagan government to reveal the details behind the 108 acres of land allocation made to Hetero Pharma. The company owners are said to be close to the incumbent government. Uma further added, “When people from four surrounding villages said that they are not interested to give their lands, how did the company acquire the land at Rs. 18 lakhs per acre while the market rate is 50 lakhs?”
Uma alleged that Jagan Government is bypassing all the rules and regulations to illegally profit private companies owned by their loyalists. Hetero Pharma which was started at Nakkapalli in Visakhapatnam district a few years ago is a glaring example of this. The company was initially started in 200 acres added another 200 acres to its land bank. Locals allege they were made to part with their lands forcibly. When Hetero asked for another 50 acres, the TDP Government back then initiated an enquiry and took back land held by the company.
As soon as YSRCP came into power in 2019, Hetero is asking 108 acres instead of 50 acres. The land which consists of grazing fields for cattle, a tank and a burial ground has already been assigned to the company for nominal rates. People from the surrounding areas are not speaking out of fear of reprisal from the government.
