The Bharat Bandh by farmers pan India turned out to be a massive hit. All political parties selflessly backed their support for the sons of the soil and thereby were successful in bringing the government a step down further. Almost all opposition parties, which include the Congress, NCP, Aam Aadmi Party, DMK and TRS have supported the Bharat Bandh. Though the government’s sixth round of negotiations were to be held on Wednesday, the Union Minister Amit Shah called the farmers for talks at 7 PM on Tuesday itself, in a bid to end the massive agitation against the contentious agricultural laws.
As a matter of fact, Amit Shah himself calling farmers for an unofficial discussion itself holds immense significance. It is known that AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy himself had to return from Delhi several times despite having obtained an appointment to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This proves that the farmers succeeded in making the government engage with them at the highest level. Farm Unions pan India blocked rail and road transport as part of the nationwide strike, including state and national highways leading to Delhi and markets were also shut.
