Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy issued key directions to officials on dealing with the Coronavirus. During a review on measures to control pandemic on September 8, the Chief Minister ordered that results of rapid tests should be released within 30 minutes while other tests, including RTPCR tests, should be out in 24 hours. He also said beds should be allotted within 30 minutes to the Covid-19 patients.
Filling of posts in a week
The Chief Minister ordered officials that all posts in government hospitals, including doctors and other categories, should be filled within a week. The state is witnessing a daily tally of around 10,000 infections. The total count crossed 5.17 lakh in the state so far. In view of the serious situation, the Chief Minister directed the officials to take all the steps to control the fast spreading pandemic.
Senior citizens
Due to stigma and quarantine restrictions, even symptomatic people are not coming forward to undergo COVID tests in the state. Taking a serious view of this, the government is mulling to make it mandatory for all social security pensioners to take COVID tests in the first phase. Accordingly, large scale testing for senior citizens in the Guntur East Assembly constituency has been undertaken since the last week. Random COVID tests are also likely to be held in a few days. Students from Class IX to XII, degree and university will have to attend classes from September 21. In view of this, the government is planning to ramp up testing to reduce the risk of further surge in infections.
