Anushka Shetty who enjoyed limelight with her glamorous roles and lady-oriented films is nowhere in the competition now. As she is reaching her 40s, star heroes are not showing interest to work with her and scripts that can portray her as a leading woman are also not knocking her door lately. She is said to be at the end of her glorious career and her recent film ‘Nisabdam’ which was supposed to release in April got delayed due to the pandemic. There is no clarity on its OTT release too.
There was news before a couple of months that Amazon bought this film for Rs. 35 crores, but the streaming hasn’t started leading to doubts about the news. Sources say that even though the deal has been done, Hindi dubbing rights are bagged by no one. This coupled with Anushka’s disinterest to participate in promotional activities has made Amazon Prime hold streaming for now.
Amazon mandates that the film’s hero and heroine must participate in promotional activities. But Anushka is said to be unhappy about selling the film to OTT as she believes that ‘Nisabdam’ has got huge potential to set screens on fire. Anushka has reportedly charged Rs. 3.5 crores for this film and industry insiders are unhappy to see her skip the promotional activities.
