Vijayashanti, the actor-turned politician who met Home Minister Amit Shah, on Sunday, pledged her alliance to the Saffron Party on Monday in New Delhi. Her return to BJP comes at a time when the party has been performing exceptionally well in Telangana. After the recent win in the Dubbaka bypoll elections, BJP came out with an impressive performance in the GHMC elections 2020. The party won 48 seats, only to be second behind the TRS party with 55 seats.
Vijayashanti’s political journey so far
Vijayashanti has changed multiple political parties during her political stint after finally settling for the BJP. Let’s take a look at her political journey so far.
- Having started her political career with BJP in 2008, Vijayashanti joined multiple parties before returning to BJP. If we take a glimpse of her political journey so far, the star politician has initially served as a secretary of the party’s Mahila Morcha.
- She then left the BJP party and launched her own party Thalli Telangana. Later she merged her party with Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), where she contested and won as MP from Medak parliamentary constituency.
- During the formation of Telangana in 2014, she was sidelined from the party and joined the congress.
She later served as an advisor to the election campaign committee of PCC ( Pradesh Congress Committee). - Vijayashanti has been staying away from the congress party activities, and today, she finally joined the BJP party.
