A property dispute between two brothers snowballed into a huge political controversy in Srikalahasti town. Gangs believed to be from Kadapa and Kurnool who entered in the town, with the assistance of locals created nuisance late at night. They demolished a wall and even attempted to kill a retired DSP who tried to stop them.
As per the victims, the details are-
Narasimha Naidu of Srikalahasti town has two sons and had purchased two acres of land from Srikalahasti Panagal Raja in 1976. He divided the land, giving 2 acres in Survey No 201 / 2d to his first wife’s son Vamsi Krishna and 2.94 cents in Survey No 201/2E to his second wife’s son Parthasarathy. Now, his second son constructed a 15-foot wall on two acres of land given to his elder brother. This led to a dispute with their relatives holding a Panchayat to solve the matter, in the presence of local influential men.
However, the issue could not get solved between the brothers. In this context, the elder brother Vamshi Krishna got his land surveyed by revenue authorities and constructed boundary walls. Enraged by this, the younger sibling took the help of ruling party leaders and police. They told the elder brother to leave place for a 40 feet road from the two acres. However, the elder brother demanded market value for the land to be released. The younger brother did not agree and police postponed the meeting for the next day.
Some rowdies sent by Parthasarathy entered Vamsi Krishna’s land late at midnight on Saturday. They consumed alcohol and created a nuisance by trying to demolish the boundary wall with the help of a JCB. Vamsi Krishna’s wife Sridevi and her father retired DSP Bhaskar Naidu reached the spot-on learning about the incident from locals. Meanwhile, the matter was reported to the local police too. Luckily, the demolition was prevented as Vamsi Krishna’s wife and uncle reached the spot before the police had arrived. On seeing the police, some of the men fled the place. In the mêlée that ensued, the retired DSP Bhaskar Naidu sustained injuries. He said that they received threats from gangs based in Kadapa and Kurnool.
Allegations against MLA
It is alleged that MLA Madhusudan Reddy’s followers had a role in the incident. It is said that outsiders who had the support of the local MLA’s followers were also involved in the demolition. The personal dispute between two persons led to the entry of gangs in the town and the issue has been politicised.
Injured Bhaskar Naidu who met the MLA was assured that police action would be taken against the accused. The retired DSP added that the rowdies pinned him to the ground and tried to kill him by lifting a huge boulder. However, it was a constable named Naresh who intervened and saved his life.
No case… media ignored
The victims also initially reported the matter to the police. A complaint was lodged against the attackers. However, an FIR was not registered. Few even pressurized against filing cases. It may be noted that the case was not registered despite a retired DSP being targeted. The media did not even care about the demolition and the atrocities. It is learned that the police had called both the parties and close the matter.
